Course Overview
Step into the fascinating world of coffee with this foundational course designed to introduce you to the journey of coffee from seed to cup. "Introduction to Coffee" is your gateway into the global specialty coffee movement—perfect for those curious about coffee or considering a deeper dive into the industry.
Through a mix of guided theory, hands-on tasting, and interactive learning, this one-day course breaks down how coffee is grown, processed, roasted, and brewed, and highlights what makes a cup truly "specialty."

This course provides a broad understanding of the specialty coffee value chain and covers:
- The history of coffee and how it took root in India
- Arabica vs. Robusta: characteristics and differences
- Coffee cultivation: from farm to processing methods
- Fundamentals of roasting and the science of coffee freshness
- Brewing essentials: grind size, water quality, brew methods, and their impact on flavour
- Introduction to sensory analysis and the SCA flavour wheel
- A guided cupping session to experience and evaluate coffee using industry protocols
- Industry terms and etiquette used globally in cafes, competitions, and sourcing
- Understanding sustainability and ethics within the coffee value chain

Course Format:
- In-Person Training (1 day) with interactive lectures and live demonstrations
- Cupping Session to explore taste profiles
- Peer Discussions and feedback exchange
- Online Theory Exam – Accessible for up to 21 days after course completion
Certification:
On successful completion of the course and online exam, learners will receive an official SCA Introduction to Coffee certification.
If the learner does not pass within two attempts, a re-exam or course re-enrollment fee applies.
Course Fee:
INR 15,000 (Excludng GST)
Includes course materials, SCA exam fee, and certification (on passing).

About The Trainer?
Naitik Shah grew up in Muscat, Oman, where an early exposure to café culture sparked his passion for coffee. He now leads the coffee program at Corridor Seven Coffee Roasters and is a certified Authorized SCA Trainer (AST).
With extensive experience in brewing, sensory analysis, and training, Naitik also brings the sharp perspective of a national-level latte art judge. His teaching style merges globally recognized standards with approachable, real-world insights—ideal for those taking their first steps into coffee.
