Unveiling the Secrets of Light Roast Coffee: What Makes It So Special?

Hi, I'm Karan, a Sr. Roaster at Corridor Seven Coffee Roasters. I have a deep passion for light roast coffee. Here, I'll share what makes light roast so special.

The Roasting Process

Roasting light roast coffee takes practice and precision. At Corridor Seven, we start by getting samples from different estates and roasting them in small batches. This helps us understand the flavors we can expect. Once we have a good profile, we roast in a larger drum roaster.

During roasting, we monitor the coffee closely. If we want the coffee sweeter, we adjust the profile. If we want more acidity, we tweak it accordingly. After roasting, the coffee sits in the drum for a few days before it's ready to use.

Brewing Methods

Different brewing devices bring out different flavors in coffee. For a coffee high in body, I prefer an AeroPress to highlight the viscosity. For a coffee that shines as an iced coffee, I make an iced pour-over. Each method reveals unique characteristics of the light roast.

The Flavor Experience

Light roast coffee is full of flavors. It's important to roast with undivided attention to get the best results. Adding external sweeteners isn't necessary because the coffee itself has natural sweetness.

Seasonal Excitement

Every season brings new excitement about how the coffee will turn out. We work with producers who use different processes to bring out unique flavors. One process we're excited about is orange fermentation, where coffee is fermented with oranges from our city. The result is an amazing flavor.

Our customers love light roast coffee as much as we do. The process of roasting and brewing light roast coffee is filled with raw emotion and dedication. The result is always rewarding.

Conclusion

Light roast coffee is a journey of flavors and experiences. At Corridor Seven Coffee Roasters, we are committed to bringing out the best in every cup. Whether you're a fan of high body coffee or unique flavors, light roast has something special to offer.
